Vivek Oberoi is on a mission. And no, it is just not his film Mission Istanbul that we are talking about. From humbling himself before the Bachchans to publicly apologising to Salman Khan, Vivek seems willing to do whatever it takes to shed his bad boy image.

Referring to the 2003 fallout with Salman over Aishwarya Rai, Vivek insits that today he's no longer the same man who called the media to his house and accused a drunk Salman of making 41 abusive calls. Although Vivek visited Salman's mother while the actor was in jail in 2006, and later bowed before Salman with folded hands in an impromptu gesture before a huge crowd at the Rajiv Gandhi Awards function, it failed to break the ice between the two. Despite the Khan's apparent resolve to neither forget nor forgive, Vivek says he's keen to correct past wrongs.

According to him: "Those were early days of my film career and I was blinded by stardom. I could not tell right from wrong. I did something wrong for which I am ready to say sorry to my friends and colleagues."

In town to promote Mission Istanbul that releases on July 27, a contrite Vivek admits he's expressed regret to Salman. "Sure, I want to improve my relations with Salman and that is why I have said sorry. In fact I want to say sorry not only to him, but to all my other co-stars who got hurt because of my behaviour. I made offensive remarks about Salman, and I shouldn't have done that. I have already apologised to him in public and am ready to do it again and again till he forgives me for my mistake," he says.

Unlike the rocky relationship with Salman, Vivek wants people to know there's no awkwardness between him and Abhishek because of Aishwarya and their past intimacy. "I don't have differences with Abhishek. On the contrary we are very good friends and I want to clarify that I am on excellent terms with him. For the last few days, I don't know why people have been asking about so-called problems between us. This is completely baseless," he says.

Vivek is expansive when it comes to thanking Bollywood's First Family for its graciousness. "I felt so fortunate when Mr Amitabh Bachchan came behind the stage after my performance at the IIFA show in Bangkok recently and heaped praises upon me. He complimented me on my dancing and told me he was very impressed," says Vivek.
